For anyone who has read any of SARK's books on creativity, you know what a micromovement is. And if you have tried the micromovement system, you know that it works.
For those of you who don't know, a micromovement is a small step on a project that takes no more than five minutes. This is a great system for those of us who have great ideas, but procrastinate, feel guilty, and procrastinate some more.
Example - I started crocheting a blanket for my little grandson who will be two in August. I started it in February, and figured six months would give me ample time. But will do a few rows, then let it sit for several weeks in the plastic bag in the living room. It has now become a major chore to figure out where I left off in the pattern. My micromovement yesterday was to do just that -- figure out where I left off. It turned out to be easier to do than I thought.
Of course, micromovements work for writing, too. I wrote in another post about writing just a sentence a day, if that is all I can fit in. Micromovements give just enough impetus to get you over the hump, and realize these creative projects really are fun. Thank you, SARK!
Besides rereading SARK, I just finished reading New Mercies by Sandra Dallas. Ms. Dallas writes beautifully and sensitively about family, secrets and prejudice in 1930s Denver and Natchez, Mississippi. Thank you, Sandra Dallas!
And Happy Mother's Day to everyone!
