And So to Writing, Part II

What do I really want to do with my life?
I read yesterday about a woman who sustained terrible injuries in a bus accident in Laos. Against all odds and the predictions of her doctors, she went on to build her self up physically to the point where she could do one thousand(!) push-ups a day and climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro.
As she started out on her road to recovery, she thought about what she really wanted to do with her life, and then did it.

What do I really want? I'm not sure I want to do one thousand push-ups in one day, although a flatter stomach would be nice. What I most want is to work independently, and make enough money to be financially comfortable, and to be able to travel as much as I would like.
So that means I write. And I take myself seriously as a writer. This morning I sent off a short piece to a web site that had expressed interest, worked on the format of a short story that needs to be sent "snail mail," and talked to the program director at the local library about a book signing even.
I am a writer.
